Joanna Ballantine to leave Grinspoon Foundation

Joanna S. Ballantine

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Joanna S. Ballantine of Amherst, Mass. will step down as executive director of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation located in Springfield, Mass.
During her 12 year tenure, Ballantine has been instrumental in the growth of three of the Foundation’s signature programs: the PJ Library – which just delivered its three millionth book in late May; PJ’s sister program in Israel, Sifriyat Pijama, which recently launched a limited program in the U.S.; and the Grinspoon Institute for Philanthropy focused on the Jewish overnight camping sector.
Ballantine is leaving the Foundation to join Richard Levin and Associates, a Boston-based consulting firm, where she will start a new division focused on expanding the firm’s reach to offer executive coaching and organizational consulting in the non-profit sector.
Prior to working with the Foundation, Ballantine was the director of community planning for the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts and a senior planning associate for the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco.
