Bertha “Bert” (Falk) Dobkin, 92, a native of New Britain and long-time resident of West Hartford, died on Sunday, October 14, after a lengthy illness. She leaves three sons, Cary (Marianne) of Southington, Gene of Jacinto, Calif. and Lee (Debby) of Fort Washington, Penn.; and three grandchildren, Courtney, Ben and Jane. She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Harold Dobkin, and her siblings, Marian Cagan, and Nathan, Abe and Morris Falk. Bert taught for many years in the New Britain school system. Her great passion, in addition to hosting and cooking for her family and friends, was teaching Israeli and other international folk dancing, and she was a co-founder of “Always on Sunday”, a dance group which she led for many years at the West Hartford YWCA. She was a devoted supporter of Israel and other Jewish causes, a past President of Hadassah, and an avid tennis player. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. Funeral arrangements provided by the Hebrew Funeral Association Inc.
