Chanukah prep at UConn

UConn Hillel Executive Director Gary Wolff with students (l to r) Madeline Coons, Erica Lieb and Ashley Lotstein.

UConn Hillel and the World Zionist Organization hosted a pre-Chanukah party for some 400 students last week at Huskies, an on-campus restaurant. The evening kicked off with a game of interactive trivia…then came the music, latkes and sufganiyot, deep fried in the Hillel house kitchen by the students themselves, with a little help from Hillel Israel Fellow, Algom Ben-Heron. Each student donated a canned good to Hockanum Valley Community Council or donated $2 to Beth Israel Synagogue. Hillel’s students have been working with the Danielson congregation to revitalize its building and community.

Whipping up a batch of sufganiyot are (l to r) Jared Kaufman, Colin Schlank and Danielle Lasley.
