Taking time to do a mitzvah

HHC kidsChildren from throughout the greater Hartford community stopped by Hebrew Health Care (HHC) in West Hartford on Dec. 25 to spend time with residents – and perhaps help out with a game or two of Bingo.  The kids – along with many adults – participated in HHC’s Christmas Day Mitzvah Program – an annual day-long program in which volunteers of all ages from throughout the greater Hartford area help out at HHC so that staff members can take time off to celebrate the holiday with their families. Organized by Ruthan Wein, HHC’s director of volunteer resources, 120 volunteers spent the day serving meals, delivering laundry, running the café, gift shop and recreational activities, and doing office work.
