Twenty-six hard-working teens met at Temple Beth Hillel in South Windsor on Sunday, Nov. 24 to learn about hunger in our community…and to turn out 86 apple and pumpkin pies just in time to donate to Hands on Hartford for Thanksgiving meals.

The program is a JTCares project sponsored by JTConnect (the Jewish Teen Learing Connection), and led by JTConnect faculty member Mitzi Young, put a face on hunger, as they fulfilled the Jewish obligation to feed the hungry and help those who live in our community who might struggle with food insecurity. At the end of the program, the teens created a human menorah and lit one candle for each of eight myths about hunger.

The next JTCares program, “Honor, Dignity & Respect: JTCares about the Elderly” will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Underground in West Hartford. For more information, call (860) 727-6110 or visit  HYPERLINK “http://www.jtconnect.org” www.jtconnect.org.
