Israeli-American journalist released in Ukraine

(JNS.org) Israeli-American journalist Simon Ostrovsky, who had been detained by pro-Russian separatists in the eastern Ukrainian city of Slovyansk on April 21, was released three days later. Ostrovsky, a global reporter for Vice News, was in Slovyansk to cover the unrest in the region. Prior to his detention he interviewed Vyacheslav Ponomaryov, the self-proclaimed “people’s mayor” of Slovyansk and leader of the pro-Russian separatists there.
