Birthright launches initiative to enlist support of past participants

NEW YORK, N.Y. – As part of its broader initiative aimed at engaging former Taglit-Birthright Israel program participants, earlier this month the Birthright Israel Foundation launched its first #GivingTuesday campaign. The goal of the campaign is to encourage past participants to help make possible 10-day free trips to Israel for future generations of young Jewish adults by making a contribution. All new and increased gifts will be by the Adelson Family Foundation.

“More than anyone, our alumni know the value of the life-changing Taglit-Birthright Israel experience. Many of them have come to us over the years and asked us to create a unique and meaningful opportunity for them to help support the program,” said Birthright Israel Foundation President David Fisher. “This #GivingTuesday campaign hopes to inspire those alumni to give back, as it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that this free gift is available for future generations of the Jewish people. The Adelson Challenge is a nice incentive to help make the overall program even more significant in our strategy.”

To create interest in the initiative, Birthright Israel Foundation executed an email campaign with donors, past participants of the Taglit-Birthright Israel and their parents, encouraging them to share this important opportunity across their social media channels. This is the first time that the Foundation executed a fundraising initiative across the Taglit-Birthright Israel social media channels, combining a gift-giving program with experience-sharing on social media.
