We Share Because We Care

Children at Gan Hayeled Early Childhood Center in Woodbridge collected non-perishable food items for the Jewish Family Service Food Pantry. Over a three-week period, the children brought in items to donate: During week one they brought in boxed non-perishables; week two, bagged items; week three, canned food. On the final day of collection the children guessed which group held the most items and then they counted and recorded the results. The following day, each child carried two heavy carrier bags to the car and set out on a trip to the food pantry where they met Sandra Hagan, the food pantry manager. Hagan told the kids how the food pantry operates, then weighed the food and instructed them in how to stack the shelves, item by item.
