GOLDSTEIN

Alexander (Alex) Goldstein, 92, of West Hartford died March 23, with his family at his side. Alex was the beloved husband for 66 years to Trudy (Weiner) Goldstein, having met in Ocean Beach, New London. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of Clara (Froelich) Goldstein and William Goldstein. He attended New York University. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, having served in the European Theater of Operations and Iceland. Alex worked in the family business of Weiner’s Men’s Clothiers for over 50 years. Alex was a lifelong member of The Emanuel Synagogue, as well as the Masonic Lodge Level 137. He loved music, and played the saxophone and piano. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Cheryl and husband Roger Nadeau, Elaine and husband Sherwin Tucker, and Ronda and husband Steven Bichunsky; his six adoring grandchildren, Jillian Jacobs, Alyson (Jacobs) and husband Matthew Leydig, Brandon Tucker, Molly Tucker, Mallory Bichunsky and Alyssa Bichunsky. He was predeceased by his sister Frances Ofstein, and his nephews Allan and Robert Ofstein. Alex leaves a special nephew Ricky Weiner and his wife Rhode and son Schuyler, in addition to other nieces and nephews.
