Jewish Federation Foundation accepting scholarship applications 

SOUTHBURY – Applications for college scholarships offered by the Jewish Federation Foundation in Southbury are now available. Since 2007, the Foundation has given out 79 awards for college, technical schools and graduate schools totaling $202,500.  The deadline for applications is April 30.

The William Finkelstein College Scholarship Fund awards $3,000 per year for all four years of school and is based on financial need to those living in the Greater Waterbury area; the Alan and Janet Hertzmark Scholarship Fund awards $500 to any Jewish student residing in the state of Connecticut and is a merit-based award; the Shobhna Shukla and Matthew Ginsburg College Scholarship Fund makes need-based awards for those students of any race or religion living in the city of Waterbury.

In addition, Foundation created a new financial aid website to assist students and their parents in navigating through the daunting task of applying for financial aid for higher education.

Travel to Israel Award for studies in Israel are also available. Since 2007, the Foundation has awarded 13 Travel to Israel awards totaling $28,000.
