“The Outrageous Sophie Tucker” to screen open captioned at film festival

The Mandell JCC Hartford Jewish Film Festival and Menemsha Films of Santa Monica, California have teamed up to provide open English captioning for “The Outrageous Sophie Tucker,” a new documentary that will make its Connecticut premiere at the Mandell JCC Hartford Jewish Film Festival on Thursday, March 12, 5:30 p.m. at Hartford’s Infinity Music Hall and Bistro. In addition, an ASL interpreter will be on stage Opening Night, accompanying singer Colleen Welsh and pianist Paul Feyer in a live cabaret performance. The ASL interpreter will also be on hand for a post-film “Reel Talk” with Sophie’s biographers and filmmakers Susan and Lloyd Ecker.

The open captioned film will have an encore screening on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 12 p.m. in the Mandell JCC’s Herbert Gilman Theater.
