Beth El Temple to honor West Hartford couple

WEST HARTFORD – Patti and Howard Weiner of West Hartford will be honored at an Evening of Celebration at Beth El Temple on June 2 at 7 p.m.

Long-time members of Beth El, the Weiners have both been active in several local Jewish communal organizations.

A founding member of Rachel’s Table of Western Massachusetts, a food distribution service that helps feed the hungry, Patti Weiner is also active in the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, Hebrew Healthcare Auxiliary, and the Anja Rosenberg Kosher Food Pantry. Professionally, she is administrative coordinator and community engagement associate at Jewish Family Services of Greater Hartford (JFS).

Howard Weiner is active in the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, the Howard J. Siegel Leadership Commission, JFS, Hebrew Healthcare and Beth El Temple Endowment Committee. He is the owner of Woodland Auto in East Hartford, which has been in business since 1924.

Calling them “partners,” Beth El’s spiritual leader, Rabbi James Rosen, noted that the couple “really come out and support everybody together. The Jewish community and the future [of Judaism] means a great deal to both of them. They have developed a sterling reputation as people who go out of their way to help others.”

Anne Danaher, executive director of JFS agreed.

“They are viewed as community leaders who are very well respected and whose ideas are listened to. They are a unit and they are both very well respected.”
