Chanukah in Hamden

Students at the Temple Beth Sholom Hebrew School in Hamden celebrated Chanukah by building a 13-foot menorah using 70,000 Lego bricks. Under the direction of architect Stephen W. Schwartz, founder of Building Blocks Workshop, the students formed separate groups, each group constructing a section of the menorah, using Legos supplied by Schwartz. The sections were then assembled to create a beautiful menorah that was topped with candles that were lit while everyone in attendance sang the blessings – and then enjoyed latkes dinner, musical entertainment and a children’s grab bag.
