KAUFMAN

Allen Yale Kaufman, 90, of Boynton Beach. Fla., formerly of Norwich, passed away on Feb. 3, 2016. He was born on Dec. 4, 1925 in Willimantic, Conn., the son of the late Harry and Gussie Kaufman. Allen will be missed by his loving wife Rhoda (Berman) Kaufman cherishing their 64 years of marriage; by his daughters, Susan Samuels and her husband Jesse, Debra Daren and her husband Steven, and Elyse Kirschblum and her partner Dennis Donovan; by his adored grandchildren, Andrew Daren and his wife Rachel, Anna Daren, Leslie and Lauren Kirschblum; and by his sisters, Kay Hale and Barbara Bennett. Allen often spoke proudly of his World War II service in Europe in the US Army, 14th Armored Division. After returning from the war and graduating from UConn he started working with his father at Kaufman News Company, eventually taking ownership of the business. He was a long-term member of the Board of Directors of Beth Jacob Synagogue. Allen’s greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his later years, he enjoyed life in Florida with his wife and they came north frequently to join the family for holidays and special events. Throughout his life, Allen was a sweet, humble, good-natured man who never had an unkind word to say about anyone, nor was an unkind word ever spoken about him.
