Hebrew HealthCare offers courses on dementia care

WEST HARTFORD—Hebrew HealthCare (HHC) is offering a course required to become a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Seminar will be led by Pamela Atwood, HHC director of Dementia Services, and an approved instructor of the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. It will be offered in June at Hebrew HealthCare’s main campus in West Hartford. The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Seminar is open to all. CDP certification is open to professionals who work in health care, including nurses, social workers, nursing assistants, home health aides, activity professionals, and others.

Hebrew HealthCare also offers dementia care education online. An eight-week dementia care course, which may be completed at the participant’s own pace, will begin April 4.
