West Hartford synagogue helps victims of Israel’s recent fires

WEST HARTFORD – Young Israel of West Hartford raised more than $3,300 in donations and has directed other direct contributions to help support Israelis displaced by the devastating fires that swept through Israel this past November. The donations will also be used to resupply Israel’s Fire & Rescue Services.

The 1,773 fires in Israel left 1,600 Israelis homeless and destroyed hundreds of apartments and buildings, and 4,900 acres of forests and open land.

“At moments like these, it is incumbent upon us to come together as a community to take action and show our support for our brothers and sisters in Israel,” said the congregation’s spiritual leader, Rabbi Tuvia Brander.
