Dr. Israel Markowotz, 80, of West Hartford, died Aug. 1 and was buried in Israel. He was the husband of Rachel Markowitz. Born in Romania, he immigrated to Israel at the age of 10 and moved to the U.S. at 30. In addition to his wife, he  is survived by two sons, Alon and his wife, Jennifer, of New York City, and David Erez and his wife, Shelley, of Israel; and six grandchildren, Talia, Gabriel, Elital, Lior, Hadas and Noam.
