Brian Newman named leader of CohnReznick’s Federal Tax Practice

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Brian Newman of West Hartford has been appointed Federal Tax Practice Leader for CohnReznick LLP, a leading advisory, assurance, and tax firm in the United States, it was announced recently by the firm.

Newman, a partner with CohnReznick, assumed his new role on Feb. 1. In addition, Corey Rosenthal of New York, a principal with CohnReznick, was appointed the firm’s State and Local Tax Services Practice Leader.

Newman has served as director of the Hartford office’s tax practice for the past six years, while Rosenthal led the New York office’s State and Local Tax Services team.

In addition to his 30-plus years of experience as a tax professional, Newman is a frequent speaker and author on issues involving federal and state taxation and partnership taxation matters, he also served as an adjunct professor for the University of Hartford’s Master of Science in Taxation program.

As a past trustee of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Educational Trust Fund, he is actively involved in the Greater Hartford community. He is past president and past chairman of the board of the Andrew J. & Joyce D. Mandell Jewish Community Center, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Hartford Jewish Federation, a member of the tax and legal panel of the Jewish Community Foundation, and a past president and life member of the Board of Trustees of The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford. In addition, he is a past director of the Connecticut Triathlon Series, and past race director for the Capital City Triathlon and Milford Triathlon.
