Lil & Lee Liberman celebrate 75 years of marriage on Feb. 27

NEW HAVEN – Lil and Lee Liberman of New Haven will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary on Feb. 27.

Originally from Springfield, Massachusetts, Lee met New Haven native Lil Estren in the summer of 1940 while the two were vacationing at Woodmont Beach in Milford. Four and a half years later, while Lee, who fought in the Battle of the Bulge, was on leave from the U.S. Army, the couple married. They have lived together in New Haven ever since.

Lee is retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and Lil from her work as a dental office assistant. Last year, the Libermans moved into The Towers, a senior resident in New Haven.

The Libermans plan to celebrate their anniversary milestone with their three daughters, Anita Silver, of Berlin, Kathi Liberman of Rocky Hill, and Laurie Becker and her husband Benny of Orange; their four grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Cavey, Brian (Becky) Silver, Maggie Becker and Tim Becker; and their four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Will Cavey and Matthew and Libby Silver.

The Libermans are members of Westville Synagogue and the Orchard Street Shul, as well as the Hebrew Free Loan and Burial Association, the Ethnic Heritage Center of New Haven, and the Golan chapter of ARMDI.
