Alex Bregman breaks a World Series record

(JTA) – The Houston Astros may have lost the World Series, but their Jewish third baseman came out a winner nonetheless. On Tuesday night, Oct. 29, Alex Bregman’s first inning home run – his fifth in the Series – set the all-time record for most World Series home runs by a third baseman. It was his third homer of this year’s Series, which also made him the youngest American League player to hit three in a Fall Classic since Mickey Mantle in 1956. Bregman has had a monster year, hitting .296 with 41 home runs and 112 RBI. Last year, he talked to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency last year about representing Jews on such a big stage and being proud about it.
