Rabbi James Greene appointed head of Connecticut’s Camp Laurelwood

MADISON – Rabbi James Greene has been named executive director of Camp Laurelwood, Connecticut’s only Jewish overnight camp, it was announced recently by the Board of Directors of the 83-year old camp located in Madison.

Previously, Greene served as assistant executive director of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Springfield, located in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. 

A passionate public advocate for Jewish causes and organizations, Greene is a Reconstructionist rabbi and the author of numerous articles that have appeared in local newspapers.  

In addition to the appointment of Rabbi Greene, Louis Lasko, who has served on Laurelwood’s staff for four years, has been promoted to the position of assistant director at the camp.

Camp Laurelwood  provides a wide range of program and activities for children ages seven through 15. Scholarships are available for families who are in need of financial assistance.
