ELMAN

Marshall W. Elman, 99, of West Hartford, Boca Raton, Fla., and New London, died August 15. He was the husband of Jeanne (Herrup) Elman. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Bernard and Alice (Greenberg) Elman. He served in the U.S. Army-Cavalry Division. He was a founding member of Beth El Temple and a regular worshipper at Temple Israel and Congregation Beth El, in New London. He is survived by his children, Harriet Bergman and her husband Brian of Hawthorne, N.J., and Larry Elman and his wife Debbie of West Hartford; his son-in-law Sidney Melius, of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; his grandchildren, Seth (Rachel) Bergman and Allison (Joseph) Ehrlich, of Wyckoff, N.J., Matthew (Leah) Melius, of Ivoryton; Jonathan (Aimee) Melius of Lake Worth, Fla., Jennifer (Wes) Cushman and Julie Elman of West Hartford; his great-grandchildren, Sophie, Max, Rebecca, Joshua, Annabelle, Abigail, Ryan, Mason, Avery, and Jackson. He was also predeceased by his brother, Lt. Lawrence L. Elman, who was killed in action in France during WWII, and by his daughter Rhea Ann Melius of West Hartford.
