5 a.m.
cat purring in my ear
edge of a dream slips away
cornflower blue
planted in this day’s sky
morning reaches into heaven
on blue morning glories
dew drops wait
evaporate
chartreuse blur
humming bird
hovers at feeder
heliotrope
scent of baby powder
returns the baby years
marigolds
faithful companions
to corn
blue iris opens
a palm
filled with sun
cucumber slices
in bowl of sour cream
summer sin
crisp garden peas
mouth fills with
fresh
sitting on the patio
watching the corn grow
I am almost there
newborn’s feet
salmon underside
fresh out of water
