A Wish Come True

Roslyn Cohen, with her aid, gets a visit from West Hartford firefighters

Roslyn Cohen had just one wish for her 91st birthday: to receive a visit from a fireman. And so, the staff at the Hospital at Hebrew Health Care in West Hartford, where Cohen is a patient, set out to find a fireman to visit her on her birthday. When the hospital unit’s secretary Rhoni Yearwood contacted the West Hartford Fire Department, she was surprised to learn that Cohen had worked for the department for 30 years.

On Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, Cohen’s wish was granted when six fully uniformed firemen from the West Hartford Fire Department trouped up to her room in the hospital’s Hebrew Health Hospice unit to celebrate her birthday. “This was all I wanted. Thank you,” an overjoyed Cohen said.
