WEST HARTFORD – The Superbowl isn’t only for football fans. At least not this year. Because come Sunday, Feb. 3, before settling in front of a big screen TV to watch the big game, fans and others can spend an enlightening afternoon at the University of Hartford’s 1877 Club enjoying “The Superbowl of Archaeology.”
Hosted by the University’s Greenberg Center and emceed by the Center’s director, Dr. Richard Freund, the Superbowl of Archaeology will feature the premiere of “Lost Faces of the Bible,” a National Geographic special that Freund has worked on for the past two years. The new series uses CSI-like forensic scientists to “reconstruct” people who lived in biblical times. The screening of the documentary will be interspersed with short quizzes and give-aways, and will be followed by a short presentation of Freund’s new book, “Digging through History: Religion and Archaeology from Atlantis to the Holocaus”t (Rowman & Littlefield, 2012).
“The Superbowl of Archaeology” will be held on Sunday, Feb. 3, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the 1877 Club, Harry Jack Gray Center, University of Hartford. The program is FREE, but space is limited and reservations are required. For more information or reservations, call (860) 768-4964 or emailmgcjs@hartford.edu.
