The Ledger welcomes Central Massachusetts

When the Jewish Chronicle, the Jewish newspaper that operated in Central Massachusetts for nearly 90 years, closed its doors in June 2013, the Jewish Ledger stepped in to fill the void by expanding its coverage to include the Jewish community of Worcester and the surrounding areas.

The Western Massachusetts Jewish Ledger morphed into the Massachusetts Jewish Ledger, and coverage extended beyond Springfield, Longmeadow, Northampton, Amherst and the surrounding towns, to include Worcester and other towns in Central Massachusetts.

“It is our hope that in the doing we can capture the essence of both communities while also illuminating the common ground they share,” said the late Ricky Greenfield in announcing the change.

Since then, Central Massachusetts has become an integral part of the Ledger family.
