“Rabbi Hurvitz Day” in Westchester

hurvitzWestchester County, N.Y. proclaimed Friday, May 30 “Rabbi Hurvitz Day” – a result of a resolution passed by the Westchester County Board of Legislators and spearheaded by County Board of Legislators Chair Michael Kaplowitz. The recognition coincided with the AJC Westchester Gala honoring Rabbi Mitch Hurvitz, spiritual leader of Temple Sholom in Greenwich, for his outstanding work within the Jewish community and the community at large. To note the prestigious honor, a digital screen located in Westchester County Center read:  “Westchester County Center Declares May 30, 2014 Rabbi Hurvitz Day.”

Four hundred people were on hand to take part in the May 28 gala held at Westchester’s Ritz Carlton. “I was extremely honored to be recognized by AJC for my rabbinic works over these past 20 years in both the Jewish and general community,” said Hurvitz following the event. “ AJC is a wonderful partner with Temple Sholom, and I look forward to our continued mutual efforts on behalf of global Jewish and interfaith works.”
