Woodbury students step up!

Recently, students of CHAI Center for Jewish Life and Learning, the religious school of Beth El Synagogue, celebrated the end of their school year at a Friday night Shabbat service held at the Woodbury shul. Led by education director and teacher Rabbi Eliana Falk, the “CHAI” program – an acronym for Creative, Holistic, Alternative and Intergenerational – focused on classes for kids in Hebrew and ritual skills and Jewish life and ethics. Twice monthly, the children and their families also attended interactive education sessions in which the families learned about the cycle of the Jewish year and core religious concepts. In addition, the intergenerational group explored Torah mitzvot. CHAI for Adults also graduated several students who had attended a seven-month course on spirituality and prayer.
