Mandell JCC receives $25,000 from Hartford Foundation

WEST HARTFORD – The Mandell JCC has been awarded a grant of $25,000 by the Samuel Roskin Trust of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to expand and enhance services to seniors in the community.

The grant will first provide transportation for seniors who cannot otherwise travel to the West Hartford community center for social and educational programs. The grant will allow the JCC to hire a handicapped accessible bus three times a month to pick up seniors in the West Hartford/Bloomfield communities for its Senior Luncheons and the Brunch & Learn Speaker Series programs. Additionally, it will also enable the JCC to offer transportation to other select JCC events and outings.

The remainder of the grant will allow for the expansion of the JCC’s recreation and wellness programming for seniors.

For more information about transportation for seniors contact Sharon Holtzberg, sholtzberg@mandelljcc.org, (860) 231-6311.
