Announcing 2017 National History Day Contest

Fairfield County students in grades 6 through 12 are invited to submit entries for the 2017 National History Day Contest, sponsored by the Jewish Historical Society of Fairfield County (JHSFC), in conjunction with Connecticut History Day. Entries must fit the theme of the national contest, which is “Taking a Stand.” To win one of two cash awards presented by JHSFC, students must also incorporate Jewish history or heritage and/or a Jewish personality into their entries.

Last year, Rebecca Ronai’s documentary, Miracle of the Holocaust: Exploration of Survival, was among a handful of entries selected to compete in the national finals held at the University of Maryland at College Park. The Weston Middle School seventh grader was a recipient of the 2016 JHSFC Connecticut State prize. She was honored by JHSFC this past May at the Stamford JCC.
