“Basic Judaism” taught by local Conservative rabbis

The Institute for Basic Judaism, a 21-session program for those who would like to learn more about the fundamentals of Judaism, will begin on Thursday, Oct. 20. Taught by the Conservative rabbis of the Greater Hartford area, classes will delve into Jewish thought, values and practices. The program is designed for those exploring a Jewish life for themselves, including interfaith couples, Jews looking for adult-level basics, and non-Jews — those considering conversion or those simply seeking a better understanding of their Jewish heritage. An optional Hebrew reading component will be available. Classes will meet in area synagogues.

The fee for the program is $295. Discounts are available for full time students and significant others. Scholarship funds are also available. For more information, contact Rabbi Richard Plavin, riplavin@gmail.com or (860) 573-4503.
