Oscar and the Jews

Jewish talent was evident during last Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony.

■ Israel-born Natalie Portman won the best-actress trophy for her role in “Black Swan.”
■ Australian Emile Sherman was one of the three producers to accept the best picture award for “The King’s Speech” and David Seidler won original screenplay for “The King’s Speech.”
■ Aaron Sorkin won for adapted screenplay for “The Social Network.”
■ Danish director-writer Susanne Bier, won best foreign-language film statuette for “In a Better World.”
■ Kirk Simon and Karen Goodman won in the short documentary category for “Strangers No More” about a Tel Aviv school’s devoted efforts to educate integrated students from 48 countries.
■ Director-writer Lee Unkrich won in the animated feature category for “Toy Story 3.” Composer Randy Newman received an Oscar for the song “We Belong Together” also from “Toy Story 3.”
■ The award for sound mixing went to Lora Hirschberg and two colleagues for “Inception.”
