Shabbat Across America!

Shabbat Across America, Friday March 4th

On Friday night, March 4, hundreds of synagogues across the continent will participate in Shabbat Across America, an annual nationwide event organized by the National Jewish Outreach Program that gives thousands of Jews of all denominations, as well as the unaffiliated, the opportunity to experience Shabbat.  Here are some of the Connecticut shuls planning events.  For a full list visit

• Bridgeport – Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Family Friday service and “Chopstix Buffet,” 6 p.m., 2385 Park Ave., (203) 334-0159.

• Cheshire – Congregation Kol Ami, Shabbat dinner at 6 p.m. followed by interactive explanatory service; 1484 Highland Ave. (203) 272-1006.

• Fairfield – Congregation Ahavath Achim; services followed by gala Shabbat dinner; 1571 Stratfied Rd., (203) 372-6529. $18 member; $10 children; nonmember guests are $10 adult and $5 children; $60 family max.

• Stamford – Congregation Agudath Sholom; scholar-in-residence Rabbi Benji Levene of Gesher will speak at Friday night dinner and twice on Shabbat day; Friday night “Shabbat in Liverpool” service featuring melodies by the Beatles set to the Shabbat liturgy; Saturday night concert featuring Magevet, Yale University’s a cappela group. 301 Strawberry Hill Ave.,  (203) 358-2200
