ADL to honor New Haven Mayor John DeStefano Jr.

HAMDEN – John DeStefano Jr., mayor of the City of New Haven, will be honored on Thursday, May 19 by the Connecticut Region of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) at ADL’s annual Greater New Haven Torch of Liberty Award Dinner.
The Torch of Liberty Award is presented annually to citizens whose extraordinary work has helped to strengthen the greater New Haven Community.
“Mayor DeStefano has been an extraordinary leader in New Haven,” said Douglas Skalka, ADL’s New Haven chair.  “His commitment to the ideals of ADL to build bridges of understanding between communities and to combat bigotry and hatred in all forms is clear.  We are delighted to recognize his leadership at this year’s Torch of Liberty dinner.”
The award reception and gala dinner is one of ADL’s premier annual events in Connecticut, attracting prominent and leading citizens from the greater New Haven area.
