Westport teen releases new CD

Sam Weiser’s new CD

WESTPORT — Teen musician Sam Weiser of Westport has  released a new CD, entitled “String Theory,” comprised of original instrumental compositions, all arranged and performed by Weiser, with the exception of “Fixing A Hole” written by Paul McCartney. The album features many renowned musicians, including cellist Mike Block, guitarist Hans Holzen (Carrie Rodriguez Band, Dive Bar Dukes), bass player Micheal Bowie (Manhattan Transfer) and percussionist Laura Cerulli.
The 17-year-old Weiser began playing the violin at the age of three. By the time he turned ten, Weiser was concertmaster and soloist at the Norwalk Youth Symphony. He is the first Manhattan School of Music pre-college student to double-major in classical and jazz violin. He studies classical violin with world-renowned educator Patinka Kopec and jazz violin with Sara Caswell. Sam was the 2008/2009 recipient of the Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin, and was honored to be an emissary for music as a universal communication between all people. He was also the 2009/10 winner of the National American String Teachers’ Association Alternative Styles Award.
