Arielle Kessler, a seventh grader at the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford (SSDS), put on her dancing shoes to help raise $1,000 in the fight against breast cancer. As part of her bat mitzvah project, Kessler, an avid dancer, enlisted the aid of two of her dance teachers from Evjen Performing Arts Academy in Farmington to sponsor Dancer Against Cancer, an event to teach students how to dance held at the West Hartford day school.  “Raising funds for breast cancer research is important to me because one of my mother’s best friends has been fighting breast cancer this past year. I‘m so happy she is doing very well and she will soon be able to call herself a survivor,” said Kessler. Kessler’s family will match the funds raised, which will be donated to the Avon Foundation for Women.
