SILBERMAN

Leo (Leyzer) Silberman, 86, of West Hartford, died Feb. 21. Born in Pszemysl, Poland, he was the late son of the late Joseph and Dresla (Krieger) Silberman. A Holocaust survivor, in 1941 he and his family were forced into the Pszemysl Ghetto and by the end of one year was sent by cattle car train to the Belzec Concentration Camp. He was a member of Congregation Teferes Israel in Bloomfield and later a member of the United Synagogues in West Hartford. He is survived by his sons, Joel Silberman and his wife Cynthia, and Mark Silberman; and his grandchildren, Dustin, Benjamin, and Heather. He was predeceased by his brothers, Moshe, Israel, Mendl, and Shimek; his sisters, Cila Nagel and her husband and Sala Silberman; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
