Learning how to adapt

On Nov. 29, Beth El Temple in West Hartford was filled with more than 70 Jewish communal leaders representing 17 community organizations, gathered together for the Adaptive Leadership Conference led by innovation expert Maya Bernstein, who has facilitated inspirational and impactful leadership initiatives in nonprofit and educational settings for more than 15 years. The conference was part of the Community Connections: Leadership and Change initiative presented by the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford’s Commission on Jewish Education and Leadership and supported by a grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford. “This session guided us as leaders in thinking about observing before speaking, assessing values that we believe to be important, and recognizing that change involves great sensitivity to loss,” said Dr. Sandy Dashefsky, a Community Connections executive consultant.
