Samuel “Zim” Barstein, 88, formerly of New Haven, died Sept. 24. Born and raised in New Haven, he was the son of the late Fanny and Joe Barstein. He is survived by his children, Mindy Barstein of Ilion, N.Y., and Fred Barstein of Jupiter, Fla.; three granddaughters; two grandsons; and his brother, Noel Barstein and his wife Harriet of New Haven. He was also predeceased by his sister Lois Litwak.
