Mandell JCC, Congregation Beth Israel Launch New Teen Summer Program

The Mandell Jewish Community Center and Congregation Beth Israel, both in West Hartford, have partnered to create “Mitzvah Corps: Summer Experience,” a unique new summer program that offers teens an enriching and entertaining Jewish experience. The weeklong program will be held August 9-13, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

“A number of families have approached me, concerned that they are at a loss as to what to do with their high school students this summer,” said Rabbi Michael Pincus of Congregation Beth Israel. “With limited jobs and the high cost of summer camp, we hope to provide positive experiences for teens.”
Students will spend mornings at a greater Hartford volunteer project site and afternoons at the Mandell JCC Swim & Tennis Club, 4 Duncaster Road, Bloomfield, for lunch, swimming, sports, arts and crafts and more.
Cost of the program is $54 for members of Congregation Beth Israel and/or the Mandell JCC; $90 for non-members. Space is limited. Contact Cheryl Goldberg, (860) 233-8215, cgoldberg@cbict.org by July 15 to register.
