Eva (Sachs) Marcus

Eva (Sachs) Marcus, 93, died in West Hartford on August 1. Born in New Haven, raised in Ansonia, her parents were Katie and Max Sachs. She was predeceased by five siblings and her son Gerald. She is survived by her son Michael Marcus and daughter-in-law Judith Lederer, of West Hartford; grandchildren Audrey, Lesley, Naomi, and Joshua; great-grandchildren Gavi and Ami; and nine nieces and nephews. A simple and caring soul, Eva’s greatest loves were children and music. Michael extends deep thanks to the caregivers at Hebrew Health Care who for many years enriched the quality of her life. Two encounters typify Eva’s warmth and humor. Without knowing to whom she was speaking, she told Richard Rodgers that “The Sound of Music” would probably be a hit, and Meyer Lansky that he had a very nice dog.
