Beth Hillel Synagogue names guest cantor for High Holy Days

BLOOMFIELD – Hazzan Alan Rosenbaum of Bala Cynwyd, Penn. will be guest cantor for the High Holy Days at Beth Hillel Synagogue in Bloomfield.
A synagogue choir singer since the age of 16, Rosenbaum’s repertoire of Jewish music includes not only hazzanut and choral music, but also Israeli and Yiddish art and folk songs.
He is a classically trained operatic baritone and has a wealth of experience singing in opera and in classical music venues throughout the metropolitan Philadelphia area, as well as southern New Jersey and New York City.
A graduate of Temple University with a Bachelors degree in psychology, Hazzan Rosenbaum received his Masters degree in cantorial studies from Gratz College in 2008, and then became a member of the Cantors Assembly, the organization of Conservative cantors. He previously officiated as High Holy Day Hazzan at Congregation Ner Tamid in Cherry Hill, N.J. and The Congregations of Ner Zedek in Philadelphia, and served as interim cantor at Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston, N.J. from April 2011.
