TUBIS

Melvin D. Tubis, 90, of Avon, died peacefully Tuesday, (April 23, 2013). He was the beloved husband, for 59 years, of Carol (Hecker) Tubis. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of Frank and Anna (Krassner) Tubis. He graduated City College of New York in 1949. Melvin was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran, having served in India-Burma from 1942-1945. He was the owner/operator, for many years, of the family business, Raymond Cleaners in Scarsdale, N.Y. Melvin was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. Besides his loving wife Carol, he is survived by a daughter Nina Ward of Humble, Tex.; a son Michael Tubis of Greenwich; a daughter Sheila Diamond and her husband David of Avon; and a daughter Lynne Moss and her husband Mike of Winter Gardens, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and five great-granchildren. He was predeceased by sisters Minerva Thorman and Bess Rothberg; nephew William Rothberg; and daughter Debra Barocas. 
The funeral was held on Friday, April 26. Interment, with full military honors, was at the Beth El Cemetery in Avon. The family wishes to thank the staffs of the Hebrew Health Care and Hospital, John Dempsey Hospital and Arden Courts of Avon for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hebrew Health Care or the Avon Free Library. Funeral arrangements provided by Hebrew Funeral Association, Inc., West Hartford.
