“Canstructing” a Mitzvah

Canstuction.It takes a village made of cans and boxes of food to feed a village. On Sunday, March 30, Temple Shearith Israel religious school and Maimonides students, congregants and volunteers gathered for the third annual “Canstuction” project. They created a small town Main Street from donated food, including buildings, people, bicycles, trees and dogs. Canstruction3The temple will display the “Canstruction” in the front foyer through April 8th and then move it to the Ridgefield Recreation Center for display through Sunday, May 4th. Participants will disassemble the food sculpture after the display period and donate the food to local food pantries. The temple will continue to collect non-perishable food donations while the sculpture is on display.
