Jewish Senior Service to present awards at Fall Gala

FAIRFIELD – Three Fairfield County residents will receive awards at the Jewish Senior Services (JSS) Women’s Auxiliary Fall Gala, to be held Wednesday, Oct. 21 at The Italian Center in Stamford.

Anita and Harold Rosnick of Easton will receive the 2015 Arthur and Gladys Lunin Humanitarian Award, presented in recognition of their outstanding public and community service. Sandy Young of Fairfield will receive the 2015 Louis Lotstein Award for Distinguished Service in recognition of her long-time service to JSS as demonstrated by the late Mr. Lotstein.

Harold Rosnick is senior partner of Miller, Rosnick, D’Amico, August & Butler, P.C. Named by Connecticut magazine as one of the “Top Attorneys in Connecticut” (2010-2015), he is a member of the Bridgeport Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, American Bar Association and AAJ (the former American Trial Lawyers Association). He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. Actively involved in the UJA/Jewish Federation of Eastern Fairfield County – now the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County – and the former Jewish Community Center (JCCS) for more than 30 years, and is a past recipient of JCCS’ Jeffrey L. Gross Award for Exceptional Community Service. He currently serves on the boards of JSS and the Jewish Community Foundation, and is a former board member of Jewish Family Services. Harold is a JCCS Gala Honoree and a recipient of the Jeffrey L. Gross Award for Exceptional Community Service.

Anita Rosnick was a long-time member of the JCCS, a trustee and former co-president of Congregation B’nai Torah in Trumbull, a Lion of Judah, and a medical driver for Jewish Family Services. She is also a past recipient of Congregation B’nai Torah’s Muriel Frankel Award.

The Rosnicks are active members of AIPAC and Congregation B’nai Torah, and were honored in 2011 with the synagogue’s Chai Award. They were involved in the construction of the Chick and Tillie Rosnick Fitness Center on the future Jewish Senior Services’ campus on Park Avenue in Bridgeport.

Sandy Young has been a JSS leader and volunteer for more than 15 years, serving as president of the Women’s Auxiliary and a member of its Board of Directors, as well as a member of JSS Services Board of Directors.
