The Connecticut Cookie Mitzvah

Elianna Doron is spending the winter baking up batches and batches of cookies – everything from chocolate chip, snowball and sugar cookies, to gluten-free macaroons and even chewy granola bars – all for a good cause. As her bat mitzvah project, the Simsbury pre-teen is selling her homemade baked goods through, to raise money to enhance the library at the Bess & Paul Sigel Academy in Bloomfield, where she is a student. The kosher parve cookies are baked at Beth David Synagogue in West Hartford and picked up every other week at the Hebrew Academy. For more information call the Hebrew Academy at Elianna (860) 243-8333.
