Rabbi David Nelson to lead High Holiday services in Bridgeport

Congregation Rodeph Sholom in Bridgeport has announced that Rabbi David Nelson will lead High Holidays services this fall. A graduate of Brandeis University and the Jewish Theological Seminary. Nelson is the son of Rabbi Harry Nelson z”l, who served as the congregation’s spiritual leader for many years, and Ethel Nelson z”l. He currently serves as spiritual leader of B’nai Shalom in Benton Harbor, Mich. and is a member of the Chaplain’s Advisory Council of the Michigan Department of Corrections and the Jewish Hospice and Chaplaincy Network.

Niema Hirsch will serve as hazzan for the High Holidays, it was also announced. Hirsch has served as both education director and hazzan for the congregation. In addition to serving as High Holiday hazzan, she will lead Festival services, as well as numerous Shabbat services.
