The Mandell JCC in West Hartford and the Greater New Haven Jewish Community Center in Woodbridge were among several JCCs on the east coast to receive bomb threats this morning, Wednesday, Jan. 18. According to Judy Diamondstein, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, the threat to the New Haven JCC was telephoned in at 9:22 a.m. The caller indicated that a bomb was in the building.When asked which location the caller was referring to — given that in the aftermath of a fire last month, the New Haven JCC is temporarily located In several locations — the caller responded “In your building; in your building,” and hung up. The New Haven JCC evacuated all their locations; bomb sniffing dogs were called in and one building housing the fitness facility has thus far been cleared.  The Mandell JCC has also been evacuated. It is reported that there were several other bomb threats to JCCs called in this morning, including the JCC in Edison, New Jersey.
