NOVARR

Leo J. Novarr, 96, of West Hartford, formerly of Bloomfield, died Jan. 4. He was the widower of Sylvia (Greenbaum) Novarr. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Bennie and Minnie (Katz) Novarr. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the Aleutian Islands, on Kiska off of Alaska, and then on Saipan in the Mariana Islands in the Pacific, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He is survived by his children, Susan Schenker and her husband Michael of Simsbury, and Davida Novarr of Oakland, Calif.; his daughter-in-law Avra Novarr of Bloomfield; his grandchildren, Caryn Solomon, Jonathan Schenker (Alyson), Lauren Wolfson (Alexander), Matthew Novarr (Mandy), and Jason Novarr (Nandini); his great-grandchildren, Noah, Zachary and Lindsay Solomon, Avi and Manuel Schenker, Harper, Asher and Miles Wolfson, and Dani Novarr; his sisters, Ruth Hershman and her husband Gil, and Edith Katzman and her husband Mel; his brother-in-law Harold Greenbaum and his wife Margie; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his son Daniel Novarr and his daughter Harriet Novarr.
