SHAPIRO

Sidney N. Shapiro, OD, 95, of Glastonbury, formerly of Springfield, Holyoke, and Centerville, Mass, died April 5. He was the widow of Ruth Kastleman. He was raised in Waterbury. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. He joined the Army Reserves, retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1982, mostly with the 309th Field Hospital based in Chicopee, MA. He was a long-time member of Beth El Synagogue in Springfield. He is survived by his children, Steven and his wife Lynne of Glastonbury, Stuart and his wife Janiece of Lenox, Mass., and Todd and his wife Gwen of Glastonbury; his nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
